Indiana flags are snapping across Fort Wayne late this morning as southwest winds strengthen ahead of a colder push. Temperatures sit near 42 degrees at Fort Wayne International Airport, but gusts are building and will peak this afternoon.

Travel will grow more difficult by midday.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. According to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana, southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph will gust as high as 45 mph across Allen County and surrounding areas.

Drivers along I-69, I-469, and U.S. 30 should brace for sudden crosswinds, especially on elevated ramps and open farmland stretches. Tree limbs could snap, and sporadic power outages are possible.

Winds gradually ease tonight as temperatures fall to around 28 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Any leftover moisture could refreeze after sunset, creating isolated slick spots. This is the time of year when flash freezing can quickly increase crash risks.

Saturday turns partly sunny with a high near 40. Clouds increase Saturday night with a 30 percent chance of snow after 1 a.m.

Sunday brings the better chance for accumulation. Snow is likely, mainly before early afternoon, with highs near 35. Light accumulation is possible, and roads could become snow-covered at times. Sunday night drops to around 24 with lingering slick patches.

Monday turns partly sunny but colder, near 33 degrees. Temperatures moderate into the upper 30s Tuesday and rebound further by midweek. The 6–10 day outlook signals above-normal readings and early signs of spring warmth returning to the Midwest.

Five Day Outlook for Fort Wayne:
Saturday: Partly sunny, high 40.
Sunday: Snow likely, high 35.
Monday: Partly sunny, high 33.
Tuesday: Partly sunny, high 37.
Wednesday: Chance of rain, high 48.
