Spokane, Washington – Snow will begin impacting the Thursday evening commute by 5 p.m., and drivers along I-90 and US-2 should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility through 10 a.m. Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, light to moderate snow will track across Eastern Washington and North Idaho from 12 p.m. Thursday through 10 a.m. Friday. While widespread totals of 1 to 3 inches are expected, localized bands could drop up to 4 inches, especially in northeast Washington and the Idaho Panhandle.

In Spokane and along the I-90 corridor toward Coeur d’Alene, steady snow may coat roadways during peak evening traffic, then redevelop overnight. Bridges and overpasses along I-90, US-2 and US-395 are likely to become snow-covered as temperatures hold below freezing.

Farther north, Colville and areas near Highway 20 could see up to 3 inches, with isolated higher totals if a heavier band sets up. Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry may also approach 3 to 4 inches, particularly along US-95 where snowfall intensity briefly increases overnight.

Pullman and the Palouse region are forecast to receive around 1 to 2 inches, but even lighter totals may create slippery conditions on US-195 and rural highways before the Friday morning commute.

Motorists should slow down, allow extra following distance and check Washington State DOT and Idaho 511 updates before traveling. Snow showers will taper after 10 a.m. Friday, though patchy slick spots may linger into midday. Additional advisories are possible if heavier bands develop overnight.
