Utah Weather Alert: 6 Inches of Snow to Hit Central and Southern Utah From 3 PM to 9 AM Friday

Salt Lake City, UT – Snow will begin spreading into southern and central Utah by midafternoon Thursday, with 2 to 8 inches expected overnight and slick roads likely through Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, Winter Weather Advisories are in effect across much of southwest and central Utah. Cedar City, Beaver and Milford can expect 2 to 5 inches from 3 p.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. Friday. Capitol Reef, Torrey and Hanksville are under an advisory from 6 p.m. to 9 a.m., with similar totals.

In Castle Country and the San Rafael Swell, including Price and Green River, 2 to 5 inches is forecast from 6 p.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. Friday. The Sevier and Sanpete valleys, including Richfield, Ephraim and Manti, could see 2 to 6 inches through 6 p.m. Friday. Bryce Canyon and the Upper Sevier River Valleys may pick up 2 to 8 inches overnight.

The Wasatch Plateau will transition from an early morning Winter Storm Warning to a Winter Weather Advisory lasting through 6 p.m. Friday, with 3 to 8 inches expected during the advisory period.

Snow will intensify Thursday evening, covering highways including Interstate 15, U.S. 89 and U.S. 6. Drivers should slow down, increase following distance and check UDOT road updates before traveling. Snow tapers Friday, but icy spots may persist into the afternoon.
