Virginia – Clouds are thickening over the New River Valley, and damp air clings to sidewalks near Virginia Tech. Temperatures are already mild in the 40s, and rain chances build as the day unfolds. Drivers along US-460 and Prices Fork Road could see light showers after midafternoon.

According to the National Weather Service in Blacksburg, a slight chance of showers develops after 4 p.m. Highs reach 62 degrees with west winds 5 to 8 mph and occasional gusts near 20 mph. Rain coverage increases tonight, with a 30 percent chance of showers before 4 a.m. Lows dip to around 48.

Showers become more widespread Thursday, especially after 1 p.m., with a 60 percent chance of rain and highs near 53. Light winds keep conditions manageable, but wet pavement could slow the evening commute. Keep headlights on and allow extra space.

Friday turns warmer despite continued rain chances. Highs climb to 67 degrees with scattered showers through the day. Winds may gust up to 24 mph at times. That springlike warmth fades by Saturday as skies turn partly sunny and highs settle near 57.

Another round of rain could return Saturday night into Sunday, when highs cool to the low 40s. Colder air lingers into early next week, and a brief snow chance may develop Sunday night as temperatures fall toward the mid-20s. Flash freezing becomes a concern on untreated roads if wet spots refreeze.

Next week starts chilly but trends milder later in the week. The 6–10 day outlook hints at above-normal temperatures building back in. Are you noticing slick roads or ponding water today? Share what you’re seeing across Blacksburg.
