Austin, Texas – Afternoon highs climbing into the mid-80s will bring unseasonably warm conditions along Interstate 35 and U.S. 183 through Saturday, before a noticeable cool down arrives by Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, temperatures will remain well above normal through Saturday, with highs ranging from the upper 70s to mid-80s across Central and South-Central Texas. Austin is expected to reach around 84 to 85 degrees, while San Antonio could peak near 85 to 86 degrees. Communities along I-10, Loop 1604 and I-35, including New Braunfels and San Marcos, will see similar warmth.
Patchy fog early Wednesday morning may briefly reduce visibility along I-35 and U.S. 281 before skies turn mostly sunny. Drivers should use caution during the morning commute where fog develops.
A frontal passage late Saturday into Sunday will drop temperatures sharply, with morning lows falling into the 40s and afternoon highs cooling into the 60s by Sunday and Monday. The shift could create breezy conditions along east-west highways such as Highway 290 and I-10.
Forecasters note only a slight chance of isolated showers with the front, with no widespread rainfall expected. Warmer temperatures are projected to return by late Tuesday into Wednesday.
Residents should stay hydrated during the warm afternoons and prepare for the cooler air arriving by the end of the weekend. Additional updates will follow if rain chances increase with the next frontal system.
