Portland, Oregon – Snow continues to pile up above 1,500 feet across northwest Oregon and southwest Washington, with multiple rounds expected to keep mountain roads slick through 4 a.m. Friday.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for the North and Central Oregon Coast Range, Cascade foothills from Clackamas County south through Lane County, the Willapa Hills and South Washington Cascade Foothills. Additional snowfall of 2 to 7 inches is expected through Wednesday night, followed by another 1 to 3 inches from Thursday morning through Thursday night.

Communities including Welches, Rhododendron, Mill City, Detroit, McKenzie Bridge and Oakridge could see steady accumulations, while higher elevations near Mary’s Peak, Sunset Summit and the Wilson River Summit may experience periods of heavier snow. Roads such as Highway 26, Highway 22 and Highway 58 could become snow-covered, especially overnight.

Snow showers will vary in intensity, and small shifts in storm track may change where the heaviest totals fall. Drivers should carry chains, slow down on mountain routes and check TripCheck.com or WSDOT travel maps for restrictions before heading out.

Additional snow showers are expected through Thursday night, with slick conditions lingering into early Friday morning.
