Spokane, Washington – Snow continues to fall across parts of north central Idaho overnight, with up to 5 inches possible before 10 a.m. Wednesday, creating slick roads for the morning commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. PST Wednesday for Lewis and southern Nez Perce counties. Total snow accumulations between 1 and 5 inches are expected, with narrow bands of heavier snow producing sharp differences in totals over short distances.

Communities including Kamiah, Nezperce, Craigmont and Winchester may see periods of moderate snowfall before daybreak. Rural routes such as Soldiers Meadow Road and connecting highways could become snow-covered, especially where heavier bands persist. Visibility may briefly drop as snowfall intensifies.

Even a few inches of fresh snow can create hazardous travel on untreated roads and bridges. Drivers should slow down, leave extra following distance and allow additional time for early morning travel. Conditions can change quickly within just a few miles.

Snowfall should taper after midmorning, with gradual improvement expected after 10 a.m. Motorists can call 511 for the latest Idaho road conditions before heading out.
