Utah – Drivers along the Wasatch Front should prepare for changing road conditions through Feb 23-27 as a warm front moves into the state, bringing a mix of rain and snow from the valleys to the mountains.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, temperatures across the Intermountain West are expected to trend near to slightly above seasonal averages during the Feb 23-27 period, while precipitation probabilities run above normal. As milder air pushes north, lower elevations will see precipitation flip between snow and rain, especially during the overnight and early morning hours.

Salt Lake City and communities along I-15 may begin with wet snow before transitioning to rain as daytime temperatures rise, creating slushy stretches on untreated roads. Provo and Ogden could see similar swings, with brief bursts reducing visibility during heavier showers. Along I-80 into Parleys Canyon and higher terrain, colder air will likely support steadier snowfall, leading to slick mountain travel even as valley locations turn mainly wet.

The Utah Department of Transportation may treat bridges and monitor canyon routes where quick icing is possible during transitions. Drivers should expect changing conditions over short distances and allow extra time during active precipitation.

Additional updates may follow as the warm front reshapes conditions through Feb 23-27.
