Colorado’s Front Range is already feeling the wind whip across open fields and city streets. Gusts rattle windows in Denver this morning, and the air feels dry and restless.
A Red Flag Warning is in effect from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. across much of the I-25 corridor and northeast plains. West winds will increase to 30 to 40 mph, with gusts up to 60 mph. Relative humidity may drop as low as 12 percent.
That combination creates critical to extremely critical fire weather conditions. Avoid outdoor burning and anything that could spark a wildfire. Fires can spread rapidly under these conditions.
Travel along I-25 and east-west roadways may become difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Blowing dust could briefly reduce visibility on the plains.
While the plains battle fire danger, the mountains face winter weather. A burst of heavy snow and strong winds is expected through mid-morning. Visibility may drop below one-quarter mile at times. Snow-covered roads will make travel hazardous over higher passes.
Snow continues in the high country into Wednesday night, with another round possible Friday. Lower elevations near Denver stay mainly dry after today’s slight rain and snow chances, though breezy conditions linger.
Highs reach the mid-50s today, then cool into the 50s Wednesday. By Thursday, sunshine returns with highs in the mid-40s. A slight chance of snow redevelops late week, with highs near 40 Friday.
The weekend trends calmer and milder. Saturday climbs into the mid-40s under mostly sunny skies. Sunday pushes near 50 degrees, and early next week may approach the 60s.
The 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across Colorado. After this burst of wind and winter in the mountains, spring warmth may begin to build.
Five-Day Outlook for Denver, Colorado:
Wednesday: Breezy, high 53.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, high 44.
Friday: Slight snow chance, high 40.
Saturday: Sunny, high 46.
Sunday: Mostly sunny, high 51.
