New York, New York – Spotty freezing drizzle could create slick roads before 10 a.m. Tuesday.

According to the National Weather Service in New York, light freezing drizzle or light snow is possible late tonight into early Tuesday morning across portions of the region, mainly before 10 a.m.

Forecasters say spotty light rain is also possible over the New York City metro area. Any freezing drizzle could produce isolated slick spots, especially on untreated bridges, overpasses, and elevated roadways along Interstate 95, Interstate 278, and surrounding parkways.

Morning temperatures will range from the 20s to low 30s across most areas, except mid-30s in New York City. By Tuesday afternoon, highs are expected to reach the upper 30s east of the city and low to mid-40s elsewhere, including parts of northeast New Jersey and the lower Hudson Valley.

Conditions are expected to turn dry and mostly sunny after 10 a.m., with southwest winds around 5 to 10 mph.

While widespread icing is not anticipated, early commuters, school buses, and delivery drivers could encounter brief slick patches before temperatures rise above freezing.

The average high for this time of year is 43 degrees, according to the Weather Service.

Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and allow extra travel time Tuesday morning if precipitation develops overnight.
