Fort Worth, Texas – Above-normal temperatures and gusty winds will increase fire danger Tuesday across North Texas, especially west of Interstate 35.

According to the US National Weather Service in Fort Worth, south winds of 15 to 20 mph with gusts between 25 and 30 mph are expected Tuesday afternoon. Relative humidity values will fall near 30 percent, promoting elevated fire weather conditions in northwestern counties.

High temperatures are forecast to reach the mid-70s to mid-80s across the region. Graham is expected to reach 85 degrees, Cisco near 84, Killeen around 80, and the Dallas-Fort Worth area near 77 to 79 degrees.

The elevated fire threat will persist into Wednesday and Thursday, even as winds become slightly lighter. Forecasters indicate relative humidity could drop as low as 15 to 25 percent in areas west of I-35 during midweek afternoons.

Communities along I-35 from Waco through Dallas-Fort Worth and toward Gainesville may experience breezy and dry conditions during peak heating hours. Officials advise avoiding outdoor burning and securing lightweight outdoor objects that could be blown by gusty winds.

Dry vegetation combined with warm temperatures increases the risk that any spark could ignite rapidly spreading grassfires.

The conditions may be particularly relevant for commuters, construction crews, and agricultural operations working outdoors during the afternoon hours.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the National Weather Service Fort Worth office and follow local fire safety guidance through midweek.
