Enterprise, Oregon – Drivers in the Wallowa Valley could feel sudden 55 mph wind gusts pushing vehicles across lanes through 4 p.m. Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 4 p.m. PST for Wallowa County, including Enterprise, Joseph and Wallowa. South winds between 20 and 30 mph will continue through the afternoon, with peak gusts up to 55 mph in exposed areas of the valley.

The strongest winds are expected along open stretches of Highway 82 and rural county roads, where crosswinds may create difficult handling for semis, ranch vehicles and other high-profile traffic. Gusts could snap small tree limbs and toss unsecured outdoor items, leading to spotty power outages.

Residents should secure garbage bins, patio furniture and lightweight farm equipment before midday. Drivers are urged to slow down, maintain a firm grip on the steering wheel and remain alert for sudden gusts near gaps in terrain.

Winds are expected to gradually weaken after 4 p.m., but breezy conditions may linger into the evening. Additional updates will be issued if wind speeds increase beyond current projections.
