Pendleton, Oregon – Snow will continue stacking up across the Blue Mountains and Oregon Cascades through midweek, with up to 11 inches expected in higher elevations and slick travel along key mountain highways through Wednesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 3 p.m. Wednesday for the Northern Blue Mountains of Oregon and the Northwest Blue Mountains in Washington, including Tollgate, Meacham and Ski Bluewood Resort. Additional snowfall of 7 to 11 inches is forecast above 4,500 feet, with 2 to 6 inches down to 3,000 feet as multiple waves move through the region.
Periods of moderate to heavy snow will reduce visibility and create snow-packed conditions along Interstate 84 near Meacham and Highway 204 toward Tollgate. Drivers should expect changing conditions with bursts of heavier snowfall through Wednesday.
Farther south along the east slopes of the Oregon Cascades, including Sisters, Sunriver, Camp Sherman and La Pine, snow will persist through 10 p.m. Tuesday. Totals of 5 to 10 inches are expected along the Cascade crest, with 1 to 4 inches in lower elevations.
