Oregon’s largest city is locked under a cold gray sky this morning, and damp streets across Portland signal a messy February stretch ahead. At 39 degrees, the air feels brisk, and steady rain is falling across downtown and along I-5.

Showers continue through late morning with highs near 43 degrees. According to the National Weather Service in Portland, snow levels drop from around 2,000 feet to near 800 feet tonight. Rain transitions to rain and snow showers after midnight, especially in heavier bursts. Little accumulation is expected in the metro area, but brief slushy spots are possible on elevated surfaces.

Tuesday brings another round of rain and snow showers with highs near 46 degrees. Snow levels hover between 500 and 1,200 feet. Most valley floors stay mainly wet, yet neighborhoods in the West Hills and areas above 1,000 feet could see light coatings. Drivers should watch bridges and overpasses where flash freezing can occur after sunset.

By Wednesday, rain and snow showers persist with highs near 44 degrees. Snow levels dip as low as 300 feet before rising again in the afternoon. Overnight lows fall into the low 30s, keeping the threat of slick patches in play.

Showers linger into Thursday before easing late week. Looking ahead to President’s Day Week, temperatures gradually climb into the upper 40s and low 50s, signaling a modest warming trend across northwest Oregon.
