Oregon’s high desert is wrapped in thick gray fog this morning, and visibility around Pendleton has dropped to a quarter mile or less. Headlights glow in the haze along I-84 and Highway 11, and drivers are moving cautiously through patches of dense February fog.

According to the National Weather Service in Pendleton, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. Visibility may fall to one-quarter mile or lower in the foothills of the Northern Blue Mountains, including Pendleton, Athena, and Pilot Rock. Low clouds and saturated air are combining to create sudden drops in visibility.

Temperatures sit near 41 degrees, and light winds are allowing fog to linger well into the morning hours. Travel conditions may change quickly over short distances. Drivers should slow down, use low-beam headlights, and leave extra following distance.

Later today, rain becomes more likely with highs near 47 degrees. As colder air filters in tonight, rain may mix with snow after 10 p.m. Snow levels lower to around 1,200 feet by early Tuesday. While little accumulation is expected in town, slushy spots are possible in higher terrain.

Midweek brings additional chances for rain and snow showers, especially Tuesday night into Wednesday. Overnight lows dip into the upper 20s, raising the risk of slick patches if roads remain wet.

Looking ahead to President’s Day Week, temperatures gradually moderate with highs climbing back toward the upper 40s and near 50 by the weekend.
