Green Bay, Wisconsin – A wintry system is expected to bring freezing rain, snow and rain to Wisconsin Tuesday night into Wednesday, with the greatest icing threat focused in north-central parts of the state.

According to the National Weather Service in Green Bay, precipitation will develop Tuesday night and continue into Wednesday. Areas north of Highway 29 are expected to see a mix of freezing rain and snow, while locations south of Highway 29 will mainly experience rain.

Forecasters say the highest icing potential is in north-central Wisconsin, primarily between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. Ice accumulation could create slick roads and increase the risk of scattered power outages. Snowfall totals of 2 inches or more are possible near the Wisconsin-Michigan border, where colder air is more likely to remain in place.

Communities including Wausau, Rhinelander and Antigo face the highest risk for icy conditions. Green Bay and Appleton are more likely to see rain, though brief freezing rain cannot be ruled out if temperatures dip.

The timing of the system could affect both the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes. Drivers should monitor updated forecasts and prepare for rapidly changing road conditions.

Utility crews and residents are advised to be prepared for potential icy travel and isolated power disruptions.
