Huntsville, Alabama – Unseasonably mild temperatures will build across north Alabama this week, with highs approaching 80 degrees before late-week rain chances return.

According to the US National Weather Service in Huntsville, a warming trend is underway, bringing afternoon highs into the upper 60s Monday and near 70 degrees Tuesday. By Wednesday, highs are forecast to reach around 71 degrees, climbing further into the upper 70s to near 80 degrees in some areas by Thursday.

Overnight lows will remain mild as well, ranging from the mid-40s early in the week to the upper 50s by Wednesday and Thursday nights.

Forecasters say low shower chances will develop Wednesday night into Thursday, with low to medium rain probabilities continuing Thursday night. A few thunderstorms cannot be ruled out late Thursday, though widespread severe weather has not been confirmed at this time.

Drivers along Interstate 565, Interstate 65, US-31, and US-72 may encounter wet pavement and brief visibility reductions if showers develop during evening commute hours Thursday.

The warm temperatures may increase outdoor activity during the afternoon, particularly as highs reach the upper 70s. The timing of any rain could affect students and commuters traveling later in the week.

While rainfall amounts remain uncertain, residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts as shower and thunderstorm chances become more defined.

North Alabama will continue experiencing above-normal warmth through Thursday before any potential changes arrive heading into the weekend.
