Cleveland, Ohio – Above-normal temperatures and midweek rain showers are expected to bring a brief break from winter across northern Ohio.

According to the US National Weather Service in Cleveland, temperatures will climb steadily through midweek, with many locations reaching the low 60s by Wednesday. This marks a significant warmup compared to recent colder conditions.

Dense fog developed Monday morning south of a line from Findlay to Cleveland, reducing visibility in some areas during the early commute. Conditions are expected to gradually improve as the day progresses.

High temperatures across the region will trend well above seasonal averages through Friday. Cities including Cleveland, Akron, Toledo, Mansfield, and Youngstown are forecast to see highs ranging from the upper 50s to lower 60s, with Wednesday likely the warmest day of the week.

Occasional rain showers are expected Wednesday and again Friday as weather systems move through the Great Lakes. While widespread severe weather is not anticipated, wet pavement and reduced visibility may affect drivers during heavier showers.

Multiple rounds of rain combined with snowmelt could lead to modest rises on some rivers. Officials say rivers will be monitored for potential ice jams as ice begins to break up amid warmer temperatures.

Drivers along Interstate 90, Interstate 71, Interstate 77, Interstate 75, and US-422 should remain alert for fog early in the week and slick roads during rain events.

The warmer conditions may increase outdoor activity, though changing weather could affect midweek commutes.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts for river conditions and rain timing later this week.
