Gaylord, Michigan – Freezing fog may create slick spots early Monday before mixed precipitation returns midweek across northern Michigan.

According to the US National Weather Service in Gaylord, freezing fog developed early Monday and could produce icy patches on untreated roads, bridges, and sidewalks. Drivers are urged to use caution during the morning commute as visibility and road conditions may vary.

High temperatures Monday are forecast to reach between 38 and 53 degrees, with light mixed precipitation possible across eastern Upper Michigan early in the day. Rain chances may spread into northern Lower Michigan later Monday as temperatures rise above freezing in many areas.

Tuesday is expected to be partly cloudy, with highs ranging from 34 to 43 degrees. While widespread precipitation is not anticipated Tuesday, lingering moisture combined with early morning temperatures near freezing could lead to isolated slick spots.

A more organized system is forecast to arrive Wednesday, bringing widespread mixed precipitation across the region. Highs are expected between 32 and 47 degrees, and precipitation may move in from the southwest, continuing for much of the day. Specific precipitation types and amounts remain uncertain and will depend on surface temperatures.

Drivers along Interstate 75, US-131, US-31, M-72, and US-23 may encounter changing road conditions, particularly during early morning hours and as midweek precipitation develops.

The fluctuating temperatures could affect commuters and school travel, especially during periods of freezing fog or mixed precipitation.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts as conditions evolve through Wednesday.
