Missouri and eastern Kansas wake up to thick, low clouds and pockets of dense fog. Visibility drops to a quarter mile or less in spots before sunrise across Kansas City. Drivers along I-70 and I-35 should slow down during the early commute.
Temperatures sit in the upper 40s this morning. The fog gradually lifts after daybreak as south winds increase. Sunshine breaks through by late morning, pushing highs near 67 degrees. It feels unusually mild for mid-February.
The warming trend strengthens Tuesday. Highs climb to around 72 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Gusty south winds could reach 35 mph, raising elevated fire weather concerns. Dry grasses may ignite quickly, so outdoor burning is discouraged.
A small 20–30 percent chance of showers develops Tuesday night. Most areas stay dry, but a brief shower cannot be ruled out. By Wednesday, February 18, sunshine returns and highs reach the upper 60s again.
Late week brings a subtle shift. Thursday remains sunny and mild near the mid-60s. Cooler air filters in by Friday with highs dropping into the 40s. Weekend temperatures settle closer to seasonal norms.
Looking ahead into President’s Day Week and the 6–10 day outlook, above-normal temperatures dominate much of the central Plains. No Polar Vortex outbreak appears imminent, but periodic systems may bring light rain or even a rain-to-snow mix next weekend if colder air arrives at the right time.
For now, dense fog poses the biggest immediate Weather impact this morning. Conditions improve quickly, followed by a stretch of Spring Vibes across Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas.
