Michigan commuters are waking up to a sharp February chill and hazy skies as temperatures dip to 26 degrees across metro Detroit. Fog and mist reduce visibility in spots, and untreated bridges along I-75 and I-94 could feel slick where moisture meets freezing pavement. At the same time, an Air Quality Advisory remains in effect through noon for elevated fine particulate levels.

The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy reports PM2.5 levels in the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups range across Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and surrounding counties. Officials urge residents to limit strenuous outdoor activity, especially those with asthma or heart conditions. Keeping windows closed and using air filters can help reduce indoor exposure.

Patchy fog lifts later this morning as skies turn partly sunny. Highs climb to around 49 degrees this afternoon, easing the freeze risk. Tonight turns mostly cloudy with lows near 35 degrees.

A wetter pattern develops Tuesday night into Wednesday, February 18. Rain becomes likely with highs near 57 degrees and precipitation chances around 90 percent. Gusty southwest winds could reach 25 mph, helping push out colder air and ending any winter mix concerns.

Thursday brings partial sunshine and cooler air near 48 degrees before additional rain chances return late week. Looking ahead into President’s Day Week, temperatures trend above normal midweek before cooling slightly next weekend. The 6–10 day outlook favors gradual moderation rather than a return to deep winter across southeast Michigan.
