Boise, Idaho – A colder pattern arriving Tuesday evening will kick off several days of accumulating snow across southwest Idaho and eastern Oregon, with mountain totals reaching up to a foot by Saturday night.
According to the National Weather Service in Boise, snowfall will increase after a cold front moves through Tuesday evening, with the heaviest accumulation focused in the West Central Mountains. Communities near McCall, Yellow Pine and Stanley could see 8 to 12 inches of snow through late Saturday night.
Lower elevations, including Boise, Nampa and Caldwell, are expected to see lighter totals generally under 2 inches, while areas like Idaho City and Garden Valley may pick up 6 to 8 inches. The Long Valley and Cascade region also fall within the higher accumulation zone.
In eastern Oregon, Baker City and La Grande are forecast to receive 2 to 6 inches, with heavier snow in the surrounding high terrain.
Travel over mountain passes could become slick and snow-covered at times, especially from Wednesday into Friday as waves of moisture move through. Drivers heading into higher elevations should prepare for winter driving conditions and monitor updates as the storm evolves through the week.
