Portland, Maine – A shift to a more active winter pattern will bring multiple rounds of snow to Maine and New Hampshire this week, with the most impactful system arriving Wednesday afternoon and continuing into Wednesday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Gray, light snow showers could develop Monday night into early Tuesday morning, creating localized slick roads for the Tuesday commute. Snow chances during that period range from 30 to 40 percent across cities including Concord, Laconia, Keene and Lewiston.

The stronger system arrives Wednesday, with snow probabilities climbing to 70 to 85 percent by midday and afternoon across much of New Hampshire and western Maine. A brief rain or wintry mix is possible in southern areas such as Nashua and Manchester before colder air changes precipitation to snow. Farther north, including Berlin, Rangeley and Jackman, steadier snowfall could lead to plowable accumulations Wednesday night.

Another weaker system may brush the region Friday night with additional light snow, as cold air remains in place.

Drivers should prepare for changing road conditions, especially during the Wednesday evening commute. Additional advisories or winter weather alerts may be issued as confidence increases in snowfall totals.
