The driver allegedly barricaded himself inside the residence after the collision and was believed to have access to firearms. The situation prompted assistance from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office and the Grand Junction Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team.
With the homeowner’s consent, SWAT officers entered the residence and deployed a drone to assess the situation. The male driver was later found deceased inside the home, according to the sheriff’s office.
