Oregon – Cold air is settling into the southern Willamette Valley this morning, and wet roads could turn slushy fast as rain mixes with snow by Monday afternoon. Bridges along I-5 and Beltline Highway may become slick if bursts of heavier showers line up with falling temperatures.

According to the National Weather Service in Portland, rain spreads in by late tonight, with precipitation chances climbing to 90 percent Monday. Highs reach only 45 degrees Monday, and rain may mix with snow at times as snow levels fall from around 2,500 feet to near 1,800 feet. By Monday night, snow levels drop closer to 1,200 feet, with lows near 33 degrees.

Today stays mostly cloudy with a high near 50 and spotty light rain between midmorning and midafternoon. Conditions deteriorate after midnight as steadier rain develops. By Tuesday morning, rain may briefly mix with snow again before changing back to rain as temperatures rise to the mid-40s.

Little accumulation is expected in Eugene, but heavier showers could coat grassy areas and elevate the risk for slushy patches. This is the time of year when flash freezing becomes a concern. If skies partially clear and temperatures dip below freezing, untreated surfaces could ice over quickly.

Showers continue into Wednesday with highs near 42 and lows around 31. A rain–snow mix lingers into Thursday before gradual improvement late week.

Looking ahead to President’s Day week, temperatures slowly moderate. Long-range signals point to milder air building late next week, hinting at early spring vibes across western Oregon.
