Washington – Gray skies hang low over Puget Sound this morning, and colder air is sliding in behind the clouds. Wet pavement could turn slick fast as temperatures dip into the 30s and rain mixes with snow by Monday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Seattle, rain develops by late morning Monday, then may mix with snow between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. as highs reach only 43 degrees. No significant accumulation is expected, but bursts of heavier showers could briefly coat grassy surfaces. Lows drop to near 33 degrees Monday night, cold enough for patchy slick spots if roads stay wet.
Today stays mostly sunny with a high near 46, offering a short break before the pattern turns unsettled. Clouds increase tonight. By Tuesday, another round of rain and snow showers is possible, mainly before 10 a.m., with highs near 45. Little or no snow accumulation is expected, but drivers along I-5, I-90 and Highway 99 should watch for slushy patches during early commutes.
Showers linger into Wednesday with highs in the low 40s. Overnight lows hover near freezing through midweek. This is prime time for flash freezing, when melted moisture refreezes after sunset and leaves icy patches on bridges and overpasses.
By Thursday and Friday, scattered rain and snow showers continue, with highs near the lower 40s. Looking ahead to President’s Day week, temperatures slowly moderate. Longer-range trends hint at milder air building late next week, nudging readings closer to seasonal norms and signaling early spring vibes across Western Washington.
