Michigan’s Upper Peninsula is shaking off freezing fog this morning as pale sunlight breaks over Lake Superior. Temperatures hover near 27 degrees in Marquette, with mist and icy patches slowly improving after daybreak.

Skies turn partly sunny today with highs near 38 degrees. Light northwest winds keep conditions manageable, but shaded roads may stay slick through late morning. If you’re traveling along US-41, watch for isolated icy stretches where freezing fog briefly coated surfaces.

Clouds increase tonight with lows near 28. A slight chance of showers develops toward daybreak. Monday brings a mix of clouds and gradual clearing, with highs near 41 degrees. It’s a mild pause before a more impactful winter pattern returns.

Tuesday looks quiet at first, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 35. Conditions shift quickly Tuesday night. Snow showers develop after 1 a.m., and confidence is growing that a more organized winter system will move into the Great Lakes. Precipitation chances jump to 80 percent Tuesday night and 90 percent Wednesday.

By Wednesday, snow showers become widespread, with highs near 34 degrees. Stronger winds and periods of heavier snow are possible depending on the storm’s track. Travel could become difficult, especially if snowfall rates increase during the day. Snow showers likely continue Wednesday night and into Thursday.

This is classic mid-February Upper Michigan weather. After a brief thaw, colder air locks back in and roads can refreeze quickly after sunset.

Looking ahead to the 6–10 day outlook, temperatures trend milder across much of the central U.S., but Upper Michigan stays active with periodic snow chances.
