Maryland – Damp air is settling over Baltimore this morning, and gray skies are thickening ahead of steady rain. Roads remain mostly dry for now, but conditions will deteriorate quickly after 2 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Baltimore/Washington, rain becomes likely this afternoon with a 90% chance of precipitation. Highs reach near 43 degrees under cloudy skies. Between a tenth and a quarter inch of rain may fall, enough to create slick spots on I-95, I-83 and the Baltimore Beltway during the evening drive.
Plan extra time if you travel later today. Visibility could dip in heavier showers, and ponding may develop in low-lying areas.
Rain continues into the early morning hours Monday. A brief rain and snow mix is possible between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m., though little to no accumulation is expected. Lows settle near 34 degrees. If temperatures briefly touch freezing in colder suburbs, isolated slick patches could form on untreated bridges.
Washington’s Birthday turns mostly cloudy with highs near 44. Monday night stays quiet with lows around 36.
By Tuesday, February 17, a February thaw takes hold. Sunshine returns and highs climb to 52 degrees. Clouds increase Tuesday night, then another round of rain arrives Wednesday afternoon with highs again near 52.
Looking ahead to President’s Day Week, above-normal temperatures expand across much of the eastern U.S. That mild trend hints at early spring vibes by late week, with additional rain chances into Friday.
