Pennsylvania – Light rain is spreading across Pittsburgh this morning, and wet pavement is already slowing traffic along I-376 and the Parkway West. Showers become more widespread by midday, with steady rain likely between noon and 4 p.m.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, rain chances climb to 70% today with highs near 44 degrees. Light south winds keep temperatures above freezing, limiting any winter weather threat for now. Rainfall totals stay under a quarter inch, but slick roads and reduced visibility will impact travel through late afternoon.
Drivers should allow extra space on bridges and ramps. Fog may develop after 7 p.m., especially near the rivers and low-lying valleys. Lows dip to 35 degrees. If skies partially clear and moisture lingers, isolated slick spots could develop toward daybreak Monday.
Washington’s Birthday brings areas of morning fog, then partial sunshine with highs near 49. Monday night turns partly cloudy with lows around 35.
By Tuesday, February 17, a noticeable February thaw takes hold. Highs surge to 56 degrees under partly sunny skies. The mild trend continues Wednesday with highs near 58, but rain returns with an 80% chance during the day. Showers linger into Wednesday night and again Thursday.
Looking ahead to President’s Day Week, above-normal temperatures expand east. Much of the central U.S. runs 10 to 20 degrees above average, and that warmth keeps western Pennsylvania on the mild side into late week.
