Detroit, Michigan – Today is Sunday, and dry conditions with above-normal temperatures will continue across Southeast Michigan before rain arrives midweek.

According to the US National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, patchy refreezing is possible early this morning, but otherwise dry weather is expected to start the week. High temperatures will reach the upper 30s to mid-40s Sunday, then climb into the 40s and 50s Monday and Tuesday.

By Wednesday, rain chances increase significantly, with probabilities reaching 90% across much of the region, including communities along Interstate 75, Interstate 69 and U.S. Highway 23. High temperatures Wednesday are forecast between 42 and 58 degrees, warm enough to support primarily rain for most of Southeast Michigan.

Forecasters note that wintry mix or freezing rain chances will be closer to the Tri-Cities and Thumb region, where slightly cooler air may linger.

Additional precipitation chances continue Thursday, with around a 60% chance of rain, before transitioning to a potential wintry mix or snow Thursday evening into Friday as temperatures trend cooler.

Commuters along I-75, I-94 and M-59 should prepare for wet roads during peak travel Wednesday and Thursday.

Students and early-morning drivers should remain aware of possible slick spots during overnight temperature drops.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates as midweek precipitation timing and type become clearer.
