Lookout Pass, Idaho – Snow will make for slick travel across the Central Panhandle Mountains overnight, with accumulations building before sunrise Sunday.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 p.m. tonight until 10 a.m. Sunday for elevations above 4,000 feet, including Lookout Pass along Interstate 90.

Forecasters expect 2 to 5 inches of snow, with the heaviest bursts occurring overnight into early Sunday morning. Even modest totals could create hazardous conditions along the Idaho-Montana border.

According to the National Weather Service in Spokane, drivers should plan for slippery road conditions, especially on bridges, overpasses and higher elevation stretches of I-90 near Lookout Pass. Reduced visibility is possible during steadier snowfall.

The advisory timing aligns with late-night travelers and early Sunday drivers heading over the pass. Snow-covered pavement and compacted snow may linger through midmorning before crews can fully clear the roadway.

Motorists are urged to slow down, increase following distance and allow extra travel time. Carry winter supplies and check Idaho 511 for the latest road updates before departing.

Conditions are expected to gradually improve late Sunday morning as snowfall tapers.
