Pittsburgh, PA – After a sunny Saturday, clouds will increase Sunday as a low-pressure system passes south of the region, bringing rain to western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and northern West Virginia.
According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, light rain will begin early Sunday morning in eastern Ohio, spreading into northern West Virginia by mid-morning and western Pennsylvania by late morning into early afternoon.
Forecasters say temperatures will remain warm enough for most of the precipitation to fall as rain throughout the day. However, as colder air filters in Sunday evening, precipitation may linger across higher elevations — including parts of the Laurel Highlands and Tucker County, West Virginia — where a transition to light snow is possible.
The probability of measurable accumulation remains low, but a light coating cannot be ruled out in elevated areas as temperatures approach freezing overnight.
Rain is expected to taper off from west to east Sunday evening into early Monday. No widespread impacts are anticipated, though drivers in higher terrain should remain alert for slick spots late.
Are you seeing sunshine today before the clouds roll in? Do you live in a higher elevation where snow tends to arrive first?
