Birmingham, Alabama – A surge of springlike warmth is set to expand across Alabama in the Feb. 21–27 window, with temperatures strongly favored to run well above late-February averages statewide.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, Alabama falls within a 70% to 80% probability zone for above-normal temperatures during the 8- to 14-day outlook. That points to a dominant warm pattern, with afternoon highs climbing several degrees above seasonal norms from Huntsville to Mobile and Montgomery.

Rain chances remain present but more limited compared to the temperature signal. The state sits in a 33% to 40% probability range for above-normal precipitation, meaning periodic systems could bring scattered showers. North and central Alabama, including Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, may see rounds of rain at times, while southern counties near the Gulf Coast could experience brief heavier showers if moisture deepens.

Motorists should prepare for wet stretches along I-20, I-65 and I-10 during passing showers. Warmer temperatures may also prompt early budding vegetation and rising pollen levels across central and southern counties.

The broader pattern favors sustained warmth with occasional rain rather than a return to winter cold. Additional updates from the National Weather Service may refine rainfall timing as late February approaches.
