Louisville, Kentucky – A stronger push of mild air is lining up across Kentucky in the Feb. 21–27 window, bringing a higher likelihood of above-normal temperatures and increasing rain chances statewide.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, Kentucky falls within a 50% to 60% probability zone for above-normal temperatures during the 8- to 14-day outlook. That trend points to afternoon highs running several degrees above late-February averages from Paducah to Pikeville, with overnight lows also moderating.

Rain probabilities are similarly elevated, with a 50% to 60% chance of above-normal precipitation. That setup favors multiple systems moving through the Ohio Valley, producing rounds of showers across western, central and eastern Kentucky. Louisville, Lexington and Bowling Green could see periodic rain, while southeastern counties near the Tennessee border may experience steadier rainfall if storms track along the Appalachians.

Motorists should prepare for wet stretches along I-64, I-65 and I-75, especially during heavier downpours when visibility can drop and water may pond on roadways. Low-lying and poor-drainage areas could see brief standing water.

The overall pattern supports active, milder conditions rather than a return to sustained winter cold. Additional updates from the National Weather Service may refine timing and rainfall amounts as late February approaches.
