Michigan drivers are waking up to freezing fog that clings to trees and lightly coats bridges around Gaylord. At 28 degrees, moisture in the air is turning slick on untreated roads, especially along M-32 and I-75 north of town. Visibility has dropped in spots, and a thin glaze may form where snow melted earlier this week.

The National Weather Service in Gaylord warns freezing fog may reduce visibility and create slippery patches through mid-morning. Temperatures hovering below freezing allow moisture to settle on elevated surfaces first. Slow down and use low-beam headlights if traveling early.

Skies gradually brighten today with highs near 39 degrees. Light south winds develop this afternoon, helping conditions improve. Tonight falls to around 25 with increasing clouds.

Sunday brings partial sunshine and a high near 40. Roads remain mainly dry, but shaded areas could stay icy early. Sunday night dips to 24 under mostly cloudy skies.

President’s Day turns milder with highs near 42 and isolated showers possible. Tuesday cools slightly with highs near 38 under partly sunny skies. By Tuesday night, a wintry mix develops with rain changing to snow after 1 a.m. Lows fall to 27.

Wednesday trends colder with highs near 32 and accumulating snow possible. Additional snow chances continue into Thursday and Friday, keeping winter firmly in place across northern Michigan.

Longer-range outlooks hint at moderation later next week, with temperatures gradually edging above average. For now, freezing fog remains the immediate concern this morning.
