Louisville, Kentucky – Widespread rain moving in late today could bring up to 1.5 inches by Sunday, impacting travel along I-64 and I-65.
According to the US National Weather Service in Louisville, much of Saturday will remain dry before steady rainfall expands across the region later in the day and continues into Sunday. Rain is expected to taper off later Sunday as the system moves east.
Forecast totals across central Kentucky and southern Indiana are projected between 0.5 and 1.5 inches, with the heaviest amounts possible in areas along and south of the Ohio River. Cities including Louisville, Lexington, Bowling Green, and Elizabethtown are likely to see consistent rainfall through much of Sunday.
Periods of moderate rain may reduce visibility and create ponding in low-lying or poorly drained areas. Major travel corridors including Interstate 64, Interstate 65, and Interstate 75 could see wet pavement and slower travel during heavier rainfall.
High temperatures today are expected in the upper 50s to lower 60s before cooler readings in the upper 40s to mid-50s Sunday under widespread rain.
Conditions are forecast to improve Monday, with dry and mild weather returning and highs rebounding into the upper 50s to lower 60s.
Residents with weekend travel plans are encouraged to allow extra time and monitor updated forecasts as rainfall continues through Sunday.
