Detroit, Michigan – A mid-February thaw peaking Wednesday will push highs into the 50s along I-75 and I-94, with rain likely Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

According to the US National Weather Service in Detroit/Pontiac, temperatures will continue moderating early next week, with highs reaching the 40s Monday and Tuesday before climbing into the upper 40s and lower to mid-50s Wednesday. Inland areas away from the Great Lakes are expected to see the warmest readings.

Rain is forecast to develop Tuesday night and continue into Wednesday morning. Some areas toward the Tri-Cities region and the northern Thumb could see a mix of rain and snow as precipitation tapers.

Cities including Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, Pontiac, and Midland are projected to reach peak warmth Wednesday afternoon. Forecast highs include upper 40s to low 50s across much of Southeast Michigan, with localized readings potentially reaching the mid-50s.

Major travel corridors such as Interstate 75, Interstate 94, Interstate 69, and M-59 may experience wet pavement during the Tuesday night and Wednesday morning commute. No widespread hazardous conditions are currently expected, but drivers could encounter brief visibility reductions during steadier rainfall.

The warming trend is expected to ease later in the week as colder air moves back into the region, bringing temperatures closer to seasonal averages.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates as rainfall timing becomes more refined.
