Missouri and eastern Kansas are waking up to steady rain and gray skies across the Kansas City metro. Showers sweep across downtown, tapping on rooftops and streaking windshields along I-70 and I-35.
Temperatures sit near 54 degrees at Kansas City Downtown Airport. South winds remain light, but the pavement is soaked. Rain continues through late morning with a near 100 percent chance of precipitation. New rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch are possible by evening.
Plan extra time if you’re driving. Ponding may develop along low-lying stretches, especially south of the I-70 corridor where totals could exceed one inch. Visibility may briefly drop in heavier showers.
Conditions gradually improve tonight. Rain tapers, and lows settle near 44 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. By Sunday, sunshine returns. Highs climb to around 61 degrees with lighter winds. Roads should dry quickly with afternoon sun.
President’s Day Monday turns even warmer. Mostly sunny skies push highs to near 66 degrees. That’s well above normal for mid-February. The warming trend continues Tuesday with highs near 70 under mostly cloudy skies.
Midweek stays mild. Wednesday reaches the upper 60s, followed by sunshine and highs near 65 Thursday. The broader 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across Missouri and Kansas. Spring Vibes may dominate much of next week.
For now, no snow or icy mix is expected. However, this time of year can still bring quick swings. If colder air sneaks in after rain, flash freezing can create slick spots. Stay weather-aware.
