Tulsa, OK – Showers and isolated thunderstorms are increasing early Saturday morning across northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas, with wet roads expected along I-44 and surrounding highways.
According to the National Weather Service in Tulsa, storm coverage will continue to expand overnight into Saturday, February 14. A few stronger storms are possible mainly northwest of I-44, including areas near Bartlesville, Pawhuska and Coffeyville.
Rainfall amounts are generally expected between a quarter-inch and three-quarters of an inch, though locally higher totals are possible under heavier downpours. Storms are moving at approximately 30 mph, spreading precipitation eastward across the region.
Motorists along I-44 through Tulsa, as well as US-75 and US-169 corridors, should prepare for periods of moderate to heavy rain that could reduce visibility and create slick driving conditions. While widespread severe weather is not currently indicated, small hail and brief gusty winds cannot be ruled out in stronger cells.
Communities farther east into northwest Arkansas, including Fayetteville along I-49, may also see increasing shower activity through the pre-dawn hours.
Drivers traveling early Saturday should allow extra stopping distance and remain alert for ponding on roadways during heavier bursts of rain.
Conditions are expected to gradually evolve through the morning as storms shift east.
