Albany, New York – Overnight temperatures dropping into the single digits and teens could impact early Saturday travel along Interstate 87 and Interstate 90.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, chilly conditions will persist this evening, with lows ranging from the single digits in parts of the Adirondacks to the low and mid-teens across the Capital Region and southern Vermont.
Albany is forecast to fall to around 14 degrees overnight, while Glens Falls and areas near the Adirondack Northway (I-87) could dip to near 9 degrees. Pittsfield, Massachusetts, may see lows near 11 degrees, with surrounding higher elevations experiencing even colder readings.
Snow showers are expected to linger into Saturday morning, mainly across the southwest Adirondacks and southern Green Mountains. While widespread accumulation is not anticipated, brief bursts of snow could reduce visibility and create slick spots on untreated roadways.
Communities along Interstate 90, Interstate 87, and Route 7 should prepare for icy patches during the early morning hours, particularly on bridges and overpasses where temperatures cool more quickly.
High temperatures Saturday will remain below seasonal averages before gradual moderation begins later in the weekend.
Early commuters, students, and delivery drivers may encounter reduced traction and cold wind chills before sunrise.
Residents are encouraged to allow extra travel time and monitor updated forecasts from the National Weather Service.
