Minneapolis, Minnesota – High temperatures near 60 degrees could challenge record highs Saturday along the Interstate 94 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, mostly sunny skies and unseasonably warm conditions will continue through Monday across southern and western Minnesota. Record highs are possible Saturday in Minneapolis-St. Paul, with similar records potentially tied or broken in St. Cloud and Eau Claire.

Forecast highs Saturday range from 45 to 60 degrees, with the warmest readings expected in snow-free areas. Sunday temperatures are projected between 48 and 62 degrees, while Monday remains mild with highs again reaching the mid-40s to around 60 degrees.

Officials say southern and western Minnesota communities could see temperatures climb into the 60s this weekend where snow cover is limited. Areas along Interstate 35, Interstate 94, and Highway 52 may experience rapid afternoon warming under sunny skies.

The mild stretch is expected to last into early next week before rain develops late Tuesday, possibly mixing with snow overnight as temperatures cool slightly. Tuesday highs are forecast between 40 and 55 degrees.

The extended warmth may lead to accelerated snowmelt in remaining snow-covered areas, resulting in standing water in low-lying spots and near storm drains.

Commuters, outdoor workers, and students may notice spring-like conditions unusual for mid-February, particularly during afternoon hours.

Residents are encouraged to monitor forecast updates as temperature records and late-week precipitation chances become clearer.
