Cheyenne, Wyoming – Snow chances and wind gusts up to 55 mph could impact travel Tuesday along Interstate 25 and Interstate 80.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, isolated to widely scattered rain and snow showers are expected most days next week as two cold fronts move through the region. Tuesday brings the highest potential for strong winds, with gusts reaching up to 55 mph.

Snow chances increase Tuesday into Wednesday, with probabilities ranging from 40% to 60% across southeast Wyoming, including Cheyenne and areas along I-25. Widespread snow showers are possible Wednesday as cooler air settles in behind the front.

High temperatures Tuesday are forecast between 50 and 60 degrees east of I-25, with slightly cooler readings west of the interstate. By Wednesday and Thursday, highs are expected to drop into the mid-30s to mid-40s, with overnight lows falling into the teens and 20s.

Forecasters say conditions may also become favorable for rapid fire spread through Wednesday despite precipitation chances, particularly where winds remain strong and relative humidity drops.

Motorists traveling along Interstate 80 toward Laramie or along Interstate 25 north toward Wheatland should prepare for shifting weather conditions, including reduced visibility in snow showers and strong crosswinds Tuesday. Blowing snow may develop in open areas if accumulation occurs.

Students, commuters, and commercial drivers may experience changing road conditions during the midweek period.

A warming trend is expected toward next weekend.
