Montana – Bright February sun is already cutting through a 31-degree start in Glasgow, and the Hi-Line is set for a quick warm-up before winter circles back. Roads along Highway 2 are dry now, but melting and refreezing will become a concern after sunset.
According to the National Weather Service in Glasgow, highs reach 50 degrees today under sunny skies. Winds stay light this morning, then turn west around 5 to 8 mph. That mild air will soften snowpack and leave damp patches on side streets and rural roads.
Temperatures fall to 25 degrees tonight under partly cloudy skies. Any leftover moisture can freeze quickly. Watch for slick bridges and shaded stretches before sunrise.
Saturday remains mostly sunny with a high near 48 degrees. Clouds increase Saturday night as temperatures dip to 29. Sunday turns mostly cloudy with a high of 46 degrees. It will feel cooler but still manageable for mid-February.
Washington’s Birthday brings a return to sunshine and a high near 49 degrees. Winds increase slightly out of the southeast at 5 to 8 mph. The pattern shifts late Monday night with a 30 percent chance of showers developing.
By Tuesday, snow becomes more likely. The National Weather Service shows a 50 percent chance of snow, mainly after midday, with east winds gusting up to 24 mph. Highs fall to 35 degrees. Tuesday night could bring additional accumulation before colder air settles in Wednesday.
Meteorologists are watching this midweek system closely. While parts of the central U.S. trend warmer next week, northeast Montana may stay near the winter edge.
