Albany, New York – Dry and seasonable weather is expected Friday before snow shower chances increase later this evening across eastern New York and western New England.
According to the National Weather Service in Albany, daytime conditions will remain comfortable with partly sunny skies and temperatures near normal for mid-February. Afternoon highs are forecast in the 30s to near 40 degrees across much of the region.
Communities including Albany, Schenectady, Glens Falls, Pittsfield and Poughkeepsie are expected to stay precipitation-free through the daytime hours. Highs will range from the mid-30s north of I-90 to near 40 degrees in portions of the Hudson Valley.
After the evening commute, the chance for snow showers increases as a system approaches from the west. While widespread heavy snowfall is not expected, scattered snow showers could lead to brief slick spots overnight.
Motorists traveling along I-87, I-90, I-88, US-9 and US-7 should monitor conditions late Friday night, especially as temperatures drop into the teens and 20s.
Forecasters emphasize that Friday the 13th brings no significant weather hazards during the daytime, though snow chances rise after sunset.
For commuters and those with evening plans, the most favorable travel window remains before nightfall.
