Boston, Massachusetts – Mostly sunny skies and highs in the 30s will give way to scattered light snow showers late tonight into Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, Friday temperatures will reach the low to mid-30s across much of eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, with northwest winds between 6 and 12 mph.

A weak weather system moving through New England late Friday night could bring scattered snow showers or flurries, primarily after midnight through early Saturday. Forecasters say any accumulation would be minimal, if any, with no significant impacts expected at this time.

Overnight lows are forecast to fall into the teens to lower 20s before clouds increase. Areas along I-95, I-90, I-91 and I-290 may see brief periods of reduced visibility if flurries develop, though widespread travel disruptions are not anticipated.

Temperatures across the region will generally range from the upper 20s to mid-30s Friday afternoon, including Boston, Worcester, Springfield and Providence.

For students and commuters, Friday’s daylight hours are expected to provide favorable travel conditions before the potential for light snow overnight.

Officials recommend monitoring updated forecasts in case the track or timing of the weak system shifts.
