Raleigh has recorded 4.8 inches of snow this season, above normal levels.

According to the National Weather Service Eastern Region, Raleigh, North Carolina measured 4.8 inches of snowfall as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, compared to a normal 2.9 inches through the same date.

In Greensboro, 6.2 inches have been recorded this season, also exceeding its typical mid-February total. Charlotte has measured 3.5 inches, running slightly above its seasonal average.

The regional summary shows portions of the Southeast trending above normal for snowfall this winter, while some Mid-Atlantic coastal areas remain near or below average.

The National Weather Service noted measurable snowfall has been observed at each primary reporting location included in the Eastern U.S. update — an uncommon seasonal milestone across the broader region.

For commuters, students, and road crews across North Carolina, above-average snowfall has led to periodic school schedule changes and travel slowdowns during winter storm events.

The snowfall year runs from July 1 through June 30.
