According to the National Weather Service Eastern Region, Cleveland, Ohio measured 31.4 inches of snowfall as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, compared to a normal 22.5 inches through the same date.
Elsewhere in Ohio, Toledo has recorded 25.6 inches this season, while Akron-Canton has measured 28.1 inches. Both cities are tracking above their typical mid-February snowfall averages.
The regional summary shows parts of the eastern Great Lakes continuing to trend above seasonal norms, driven by multiple lake-effect snow events during the winter months.
The National Weather Service noted measurable snowfall has been observed at each primary reporting location included in the Eastern U.S. update — an uncommon seasonal benchmark.
For commuters, students, and road crews across northern Ohio, above-average snowfall has meant repeated plowing operations and periodic travel slowdowns throughout the winter.
The snowfall year runs from July 1 through June 30.
