Caribou, Maine – Snow showers could produce up to 1 inch along US-1 Saturday afternoon, briefly reducing visibility across northern Maine.

According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, increasing instability Saturday afternoon may trigger scattered snow showers across Aroostook County and surrounding areas. While widespread accumulation is not expected, localized bursts could quickly produce up to an inch of snow in a short period.

Forecasters note that snow squalls are not anticipated, as winds are expected to remain light. However, brief heavier showers may create reduced visibility and minor travel impacts, particularly during the afternoon hours.

Major roadways including U.S. Route 1 through Caribou and Presque Isle, Interstate 95 near Houlton and Bangor, and Route 11 near Millinocket could see short-lived slick spots where snow briefly accumulates.

Overnight lows will remain cold, with temperatures dropping into the single digits and teens across much of northern Maine. Despite chilly nights, daytime highs will trend closer to seasonal norms, reaching the 20s and low 30s through the weekend.

Communities including Caribou, Presque Isle, Houlton, Greenville, and Dover-Foxcroft are expected to experience the passing snow showers Saturday afternoon.

Drivers should remain alert for changing visibility conditions, especially during brief heavier bursts of snow.

Students, weekend travelers, and outdoor recreation plans may encounter minor interruptions depending on shower intensity.

Residents are encouraged to monitor updated forecasts if coverage or intensity increases.
