Long Neck, Delaware – A Long Neck man was arrested after a drug task force search uncovered firearms and methamphetamine Thursday.
According to Delaware State Police, members of the Sussex County Governor’s Task Force, Sussex County Drug Unit, and the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team executed a search warrant Feb. 12 at a home on Ritter Drive in Long Neck.
Police said the warrant followed an investigation into 56-year-old Joseph Anderson, who allegedly distributed illegal narcotics from the residence. During the search, Anderson allegedly discarded narcotics in a kitchen sink and was detained without incident.
Authorities reported recovering multiple weapons and drug-related items, including three 12-gauge shotguns, a .50-caliber muzzleloader, a .22-caliber handgun, assorted ammunition, approximately 4.11 grams of methamphetamine, one diazepam pill, digital scales, and other drug paraphernalia.
Anderson was transported to State Police Troop 4, where he was charged with multiple felonies, including six counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a person prohibited who also possesses a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, and tampering with physical evidence. He also faces two counts of possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance without a prescription and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $67,500 secured bond.
The arrest stems from ongoing narcotics enforcement efforts in Sussex County.
