Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Wind gusts up to 30 mph Thursday are driving wind chills into the teens across the I-95 corridor.

According to the US National Weather Service in Mount Holly, colder conditions will persist through the day as cloud cover lingers across eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. A gusty northwest wind will make temperatures feel significantly colder than actual readings.

High temperatures Thursday are expected to reach the low to mid-30s, including around 35 degrees in Philadelphia, 33 degrees in Allentown and 35 degrees in Trenton and Atlantic City. However, minimum wind chills this morning dropped into the mid to upper teens across much of the region, with readings near 15 degrees in parts of eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey.

The strongest gusts, up to 30 mph, may impact elevated and exposed roadways including I-95 in Philadelphia, I-76 (Schuylkill Expressway), I-295 near Trenton and the Garden State Parkway in coastal New Jersey. Drivers of high-profile vehicles may notice brief crosswinds, particularly on bridges and open stretches.

Forecasters say colder temperatures will continue through Friday before a milder pattern develops over the weekend. No significant precipitation is expected through the end of the workweek.

Commuters, students and outdoor workers should dress in layers and allow extra time for breezy conditions during the Thursday morning and evening drives.
